History major Katherine DeFonzo in the Archives Center in NMAH

Not many people can say that they’ve sorted through an assortment of items from Emmy Award programs to letters from well-known individuals, such as Bill Clinton, that belonged to Prime Time Emmy Award recipient Jean Stapleton, but Katherine DeFonzo most certainly can. Hailing from Fordham University, the History major spent her summer as a Reference Intern at the Archives Center in the National Museum of American History (NMAH). Over the summer, Katherine completed numerous tasks each week, from pulling document boxes out for researchers to use to even helping come up with series and subtitles to organize new collection materials. The skills she has acquired during her internship will help her as she pursues a career working in museums or archives.

A article about Katherine and her work has recently been published on the Fordham’s History Department page. Click here to read more about Katherine and the history she has made at the American Museum.
