Smithsonian Deputy Under Secretary for Collections and Interdisciplinary Support Dr. Scott Miller signs MOU

The Fulbright Commission of Ireland annually awards grants to postgraduate students, scholars, and professionals to study or research in the U.S. In partnership with the U.S. Department of State and the Irish Government’s Creative Ireland initiative, earlier this year they celebrated the launch of the Fulbright-Creative Ireland Museum Fellowships.

Keen to form connections across the Atlantic Ocean, the Smithsonian Institution recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Fulbright Ireland. Each year three Irish post-graduate students will be awarded a Fulbright-Creative Ireland Museum Fellowship to complete short-term research at one of three world-class museums in the United States, with this agreement making the Smithsonian one of them. Beginning with the 2018-19 academic year, research projects must be committed to innovation and creativity, as well as including community engagement.

If you are an Irish post-graduate student who may be interested in this opportunity, make sure you take a look at this leaflet, and this could be your chance to explore the wide range of Smithsonian Museum collections!
