Miles at the Museum
Smith College senior and anthropology/theater major Theresa Miles recently completed an internship at the National Museum of American History (NMAH), textiles department. During her internship, Theresa wrote an article about Valentin Emmerling’s work as a fabric dyer in the 1840s.
Theresa’s article was recently posted on the NMAH Oh Say Can You See? blog. She highlighted that although Emmerling has no relation to Saint Valentine, without him, Valentine’s Day would be devoid of the rich reds and perfect pinks it has come to trademark.
