Luck of the Irish
Ireland is often associated with St. Patrick’s Day. However, the culture and history of Ireland is much more than leprechauns and four-leaf clovers. The Conflict Culture Research Network is compiling more cultural information on Ireland by supporting rigorous, interdisciplinary research that examines how conflict impacts the culture of communities experiencing violence.
One of the researchers in this project is Dr. Mary Pethel, a digital intern for the Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative. Dr. Pethel’s research has focused on recovering lost cultural heritage of Ireland. She has successfully verified 319 Irish websites for accuracy and made minor edits to existing content. Her new project is to research and collect new data to complete the documentation for each and every heritage site and site of historical and cultural significance for Ireland
