Future Conservators Art on Their Way
The Undergraduate Museum Conservation Internship is designed to introduce students to the museum conservation and restoration profession. Interns are involved in the process of preserving the museum’s collections, including documentation, treatment, and research. Intern conservators gain multi-disciplinary experiences in learning about historical objects, paintings, textiles, paper, time-based media, and other remarkable materials.
This summer University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff art and design junior Matthew Fields will follow his passion for art through museum conservation. Fields will spend ten exciting weeks interning for the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM). Fields hopes to use this enlightening experience to pursue a career as a museum conservator.
