Awarding Academics

Dr. Christopher Moore, a post-doctoral fellow who recently joined the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (SAO), has been given the 2017 PhD prize from the International Astronomical Association (IAU). His award was given by the division specializing in work with the Sun and heliosphere. He was awarded for his CubeSat work in his thesis entitled “Atomic Layer Deposition Reflective Coatings for future Astronomical Space Telescopes and the Solar Corona viewed through the MinXSS (Miniature X-ray Solar Spectrometer) CubeSats.” He has received a travel grant to give a talk on his work at the 30th General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union in Vienna which takes place August 2018.
