Dr. Jennifer Kishgbaugh is a Judy and John W. McCarter, Jr. Global Health Veterinary Intern with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s (SCBI) Global Health Program.

Recently, Dr. Kishbaugh partnered with National Zoological Park (NZP) Wildlife Veterinary Medical Officer Dr. Marc Valitutto and traveled to Myanmar to see how the flight patterns of bats affects the outbreak and spreading of the diseases that are carried by the population. To track the bats and to hopefully see their flight patterns, the two scientists are putting GPS collars on the bats.

An article was recently published to the July 2018 issue of National Zoo News about this innovative idea. Click here to read the full article!
