Changing Tides In The Caribbean

National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) Smithsonian Marine Station (SMS) fellow Dr. Iliana Chollett is part of a group of researchers who have recently published an extensive 30-year study on the health of Caribbean coasts.

The findings of this study are mixed. One negative finding of this research was a significant deterioration of water quality. One positive was no change in water temperature despite the threat of climate change. This study will help researchers better understand how ecosystems respond to environmental impacts in the future.
